At Spring Lane we believe a high quality PE curriculum should be an integral part of the whole school curriculum and one that staff, pupils and parents understand and can contribute to. Our school recognises the values that a high quality PE and school sport curriculum gives pupils.
Our PE curriculum, while covering the National Curriculum, aims develop physical literacy and will allow pupils to learn about themselves, the importance of a healthy lifestyle, self-expression and concepts such as fair play and respect. It also contributes to the development of a range of important cognitive skills such as decision making and analysis, and social skills such as teamwork and communication.
Pupils will leave Spring Lane having a solid foundation of fundamental movement skills which ensure they have a positive relationship with physical activity. Pupils have a strong physical and emotional literacy and lifelong thinking skills which in turns leads to a lifelong enjoyment and participation in physical activity.
Assessment of PE is conducted regularly by class teachers focusing on the 6 learning behaviours: Personal, Social, Cognitive, Creative, Physical and Fitness.
